Best Farm Fresh Vegetables
By Jonathan Moore
Having a ready supply of raw, organic, and (optimally) local produce is key to defeating allergies according natural health experts. The problem is—who can afford that? Shopping at whole food stores costs a fortune, and the people who often really need their products usually can’t afford it. Local farmer’s markets can be a good option, but they can also be a bit of a crap shoot as far as price and selection. Also, some farmer’s markets may only be available in odd hours or in inconveniently distant locations.
I’d like to suggest something I discovered last year called CSA: Community Supported Agriculture. It works like this. You invest in a share of a local farm during the off-season. In my town for example, a share was $400 and a half-share was $250. During the season of harvest, which may last for several months, you get a fresh load of fruits and vegetables every single week.
A friend of mine did this, and she said the value was tremendous. She got more produce than she could even use, and the cost paid for itself many times over.
Check out this write-up about it:
Buy a crop share, reap fresh produce
If you are a juicer, this is a fantastic opportunity since one glass of juice amounts to several raw fruits and vegetables.
You can save money, eat well, and support your local economy as well. Just look for local community supported agriculture farms. With all of that healthy food, you will do much to strengthen your immune system to the point where your allergies and illness may be defeated.
