Gluten Free Travelling and Dining Tips

Gluten Free Travelling and Dining Tips

By Jonothan Moore

I'll be the first to admit that going gluten free is a challenge. But in reality, doing anything at all to your diet is a challenge—and most of it is psychological. It’s totally possible to make the ‘gluten-free’ switch. All you need to do is take it a step at a time and educate yourself on your options.

With that being said, however, maybe one of the most difficult aspects of the diet is eating away from home. It can be scary to think of what and how you will eat in restaurants, airports, hotels, and interstate gas stations on a bread-restrictive diet.

But fear not! Thankfully, we live in an age where major restaurant chains are beginning to make accommodations for those of us who can't handle gluten.

Here's a list of major restaurants that have a gluten-free menu:

Outback Steakhouse

Pf Changs

Ruby Tuesday

Legal Seafoods

Boston Market

Mcdonald’s

Chili’s

Carrabas Italian grill

Bonefish grill

Burger king

Wendy’s

All of these places should have options for gluten intolerant folks.

If you do eat out, just be clear with your server about your needs and communicate that you have a medical condition. But remember not to be overly demanding about your special diet. Servers will make the best accommodations possible for you, but leaving your kitchen will always involve some degree of risk and loss of control. But it’s worth it, thought, don’t you think?
