The Power of Juicing

The Power of Juicing

Elsewhere on the site, we’ve discussed how and why consuming raw “live” foods is important to you health and well-being. We’ve also talked about its relationship to your allergies. But it is important to know that simply eating raw produce by itself is not enough. To achieve optimum results, you also need to juice.

Why juice? And how does it affect me?

The process of chewing you food and digesting it in your body can consume a massive amount of energy. Since juice requires no breakdown period in the stomach, it allows your body to absorb the vitamins and nutrients from the food within minutes, passing quickly into the bloodstream.

Consider the animals…

What’s the first thing an animal does when it becomes ill? It stops eating. Why? Because when the body ceases to focus on digestion, and it is able to divert energy to the healing process. Some experts have claimed that up to 60% of the body’s daily energy is expended in digestion.

Okinawan islanders make a practice of eating only until they feel about 80% full. It is one of the reasons they enjoy the longest, healthiest lifespan in the world. This is due to the same principle at work: digestion taxes the body’s energy reserve.

The Allergy Connection

One of the best ways to boost your body’s immune system is to drink lots of fresh juices, which lift the burden of digestion from the body. The benefits are manifold. They include an increase in energy and overall immune response, but also diminished allergies.

I performed a juice fast and incorporated juicing in my diet for 8 weeks. As a result, my allergies disappeared permanently. (I was, however, also combining all of the other treatments that I have written about in this site.)
